2024 Idaho Veterans Parade General Information
Before the Parade
Familiarize yourself with the route map and how you will exit.
Communicate with everyone in your entry and disseminate this information as appropriate – everyone is responsible for maintaining a safe and honoring parade.
When you arrive
Arrive on schedule and finish your preparations on site.
Approach your staging area as indicated on the Staging and Route Plan.
Meet with your Block Marshal in a yellow vest with lettering “Parade Staff”. They will give you your Unit ID placard, ie., A1, B3, C10 ect.
Park or gather your group at the curb according to the Staging Area Details Plan and your Unit ID.
KEEP CENTER LANE OPEN FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES AND LATE ARRIVALS.
Parade Staff are wearing red jackets and caps with parade logo.
Be aware of strangers and irregular activities. Report concerns to parade staff or police.
Portable toilets are available at Boise Plaza and Interstate Bank along Jefferson Street.
Handicapped parking is available in limited quantities. Contact parade staff for locations.
Operations Tent is located at east side of Boise Plaza by the flag poles and offers:

first aid
lost child
golf cart transport
paramedics
police contacts
lost and found
order of march
parade maps
During the Parade
LISTEN FOR SIRENS! IF HEARD, MOVE TO CURB, STOP, AND OBEY DIRECTIONS OF TRAFFIC CONTROL OFFICER.
SAFETY FIRST be aware of your group and others.
Hand candy to children. Do not throw candy to the audience.
Maintain 20-25 feet between units, keep up, but don’t bunch up.
Recognize veterans in the crowd.
Parade route takes about 1 hour to complete.
Wave, smile and have fun!
After the Parade (Refer to Exit Plan Applicable to Your Unit)
At parade endpoint follow instructions from Parade Staff for exit:
Floats and vehicles with passengers to be unloaded – Turn left (south) on either 11th or 12th Street and pull over to curb. Dismount on curb side only! Vacate the area as soon as safely possible.
Vehicles without passengers to be unloaded exit straight ahead on Bannock.
Bands and Others with Busses – March to old bus station on Bannock.
Military Vehicles – Proceed to HET location on 12th Street at Boise Plaza load. when directed by NCOIC. MAINTAIN OPEN CENTER LANE FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES!
Walking Units – Proceed to Cherie Buckner-Webb Park and disperse as pedestrians.
VIP Vehicles – Pull over to right at Boise Plaza south side, surrender signage and unload passenger. Vehicles exit straight ahead on Bannock.
